World Championships - Frequently Asked Questions

We've put together some of the frequently asked questions and answers from our Twitter feed regarding the 2013 World Pipe Band Championships.

Band Member Entry:

  • Band members will only be admitted free if in uniform
  • There are no wristbands for band members
  • All band secretaries received a letter offering the advance purchase of reduced entry tickets for band members who perhaps didn't want to wear a uniform both days
  • Advance general entry ticket sales are available online until August 16th, savings and prices here
  • Without an advance ticket the entry price for a single day will be £14 (Adults), £9 (Children and Concessions)
  • Concession prices are available for students, senior citizens, anyone receiving unemployment benefits, and anyone registered disabled (ie 'Blue Badge Holders')
  • Children under 2 are free
  • The above information is specifically for band members who may not want to wear a uniform both days. General public please check day and weekend tickets prices
Playing:
  • All playing slots for heats and finals are included on the draw for all Grades
  • Draw numbers for all heats are retained into the finals and give the playing order of all finals
Grade 1 Seating
  • There are NO Grade 1 Seating Tickets on Saturday, the complete stand will be open to ALL ticket holders on a first come first served basis.
  • On Sunday this stand will also be open during the Juvenile Final
  • Access will be restricted to Grade 1 ticket holders only during the Grade 1 Final
  • Sunday seats are now very limited, the final few are on sale via this link
Marchpast:
  • There will be a Marchpast on both days of the Championships. Saturday for Adult Drum Majors, Grades 4A, 3B, 2 and 1. Sunday for Juvenile and Junior Drum Majors, Grades Novice, 4B, Juvenile, 3A and 1
  • The Grade 1 bands will parade during the Saturday Marchpast along with other bands
  • The Grade 1 announcements for the Sunday final will take place at the Saturday Marchpast
  • The Grade 2 bands will perform as centre bands on Saturday, the Grade 1 bands on Sunday
Web Coverage:
  • On Saturday there will be a stream available via the Worlds website. This will focus on the main Grade 1 Arena, so viewers will see all 24 Grade 1 bands play, 12 MSR and 12 Medley. The link for Saturday streaming can be found here
  • On Sunday the feed will come from the BBC, and will feature the Juvenile Final as well as Adult Final from the main Grade 1 Arena
CDs / DVDs:
  • KRL will again be producing CD's and DVD's for 2013
  • Only the Grade 1 Final will be covered
  • Advance Sales will be open in our online shop over the coming days
