UK Champions 2016 - Field Marshal Montgomery

The United Kingdom Championships held in Belfast, Northern Ireland marked the 2nd major championship of the 2016 season.

105 bands and 46 Drum Majors made the trip to Belfast for the third year of the event held at the fabulous Stormont venue.

A huge thanks to RSPBA photographer Peter Hazzard for all his pictures on the day, Peter captured many competitors throughout the day as well as the prizes and those galleries can be found below.

Our Twitter feed was busy all day focusing on the Grade 2 bands, and again was very popular during the results service. We will also be retweeting any images of prize winning bands, so if you have an image to share please mention @RSPBAHQ and we will retweet any we get.

The Drum Majors events provided a clean sweep for the Northern Ireland branch members with DM Alicia Dickson Hamilton from Matt Boyd Memorial winning the Adult grade, Emma Barr from Field Marshal Montgomery winning the Juvenile grade and Abigail Wenlock from Cullybackey winning the Junior grade.

The Grade 1 title also went to Northern Ireland with Field Marshal Montgomery led by Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE claiming their 1st title of the 2016 season. The Grade 1 drumming title went to Spirit of Scotland under Leading Drummer Jim Kilpatrick MBE.

British champions Inveraray and District took the runners-up spot finishing 8 points behind Field Marshal Montgomery. Scottish Power, Spirit of Scotland, Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia and St Laurence O'Toole - Eire completed the Grade 1 prize list.
