Scottish Champions 2018 - St Laurence O'Toole

Details

Media Center Image

The 2018 championship season continued at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton where crowds enjoyed the Scottish Championships despite weather which was at times extremely challenging for both players and spectators.

114 bands from around the United Kingdom, Eire, Denmark and Australia as well as 45 Drum Majors made the trip to Dumbarton to compete for the title of Scottish champion in their respective grades.

Thanks to RSPBA Photographer Peter Hazzard we will have another large gallery of images in the coming days.

Our Twitter feed provided coverage of the Grade 4A, Grade 3B and Grade 2 events as well as various updates, images and videos throughout the day. If you're not following us yet, you can view our feed at https://twitter.com/rspbahq.

We also recorded those 3 events and these are now available on our RSPBA Youtube Channel.

The Adult Drum Major title was won by Liam Renton from Inveraray and District, following up his recent victory at the European Championships. The Juvenile event was won by Kara Gilmour from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Services who was also victorious at the European Championships. Kathy Hunter from Manorcunningham (Eire) won the Junior grade.

The Grade 1 title went to St Laurence O'Toole under the leadership of Pipe Major Alen Tully taking the title by one point over 2018 European Champions Inveraray and District, this was the second title of the 2018 season for SLOT who were crowned UK Champions in June. It was a double success for SLOT as Leading Drummer Stephen Creighton and his corps lifted the Grade 1 drumming title.
