The RSPBA Adult Solo Snare Drumming Championship 2023

It should be noted that the 2023 Adult Solo Snare Drumming Championship will be a Semi-final and Final event only. There will be no qualifying heats held in the morning. The competitors in the Semi-Final in 2023 will be those who have pre-qualified by being placed at one of the RSPBA Adult Solo Drumming Championships.

The RSPBA Adult Solo Drumming Championships for 2023 are:-

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Intercontinental Solo Drumming Championship
Hosted by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association and supported by Dunedin Scottish Arts Foundation.
Date: 18th February 2023, Venue: Dunedin Community Centre, Florida, USA.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Scottish Solo Drumming Championship
Hosted by the RSPBA Lothian & Borders Branch.
Date: 1st April 2023, James Young High School, West Lothian. (Subject to confirmation).

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, European Solo Drumming Championship
Hosted by the RSPBA Dundee Perth & Angus Branch and supported by Kingdom Thistle Pipe Band Supplies.
Date: 22nd April 2023, Confirmation of venue and entry details shall be clarified in due course.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Pacific Solo Drumming Championship
Hosted by the British Columbia Pipers’ Association (BCPA).
Date: Confirmation of the date, venue and entry details shall be clarified in due course.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, British Solo Drumming Championship
Hosted by the RSPBA Glasgow & West of Scotland Branch.
Date: 14th August 2023, at the Piping Centre.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, United Kingdom Solo Drumming Championship
Hosted by the RSPBA Northern Ireland Branch.
Date: arrangements to be confirmed

All events will be held under the current rules and structures as below:

  1. Contests to be approved by the RSPBA.
  2. Contests to be adjudicated by 2 RSPBA approved Drumming Adjudicators.
  3. Competitors must Submit two March, Strathspey and Reel sets, each tune minimum of four parts.
  4. The set to be played will be drawn on the line by the RSPBA Director responsible for the event. (alternative arrangements to apply at the Intercontinental)
  5. These events carry qualification for the Adult World Solo Drumming Competition Semi-final. Places will be awarded at these qualifying events to the highest placed competitors who have not already pre-qualified for World Solo Drumming semi-final.
