On behalf of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, we invite you to enter the World Solo Snare Drumming and World Solo Tenor Drumming Competition for both Adults and Juveniles.
We are delighted once again to have the generous sponsorship from Andante Drums, and we thank Managing Director Mr Nigel Hodgen for his continued support for this event. Andante Drums have supported this event for many years, and we are delighted that this support will continue.
Our thanks to Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Caledonian University for the provision of their venue which has proved so popular with the competitors. This event is always a very exciting day for competitors and spectators alike and we trust this year will be also. The climax of the Adult Final in a packed theatre always brings that dimension of nerves and anticipation.

Please note, that only adult snare drummers who have prequalified via the Regional Championship Events are eligible to enter the Adult World Solo Snare Drumming.
Playing Requirements for the Adult World Solo Snare Drumming Class are –
MSR
Players are to submit two MSR’s minimum 4 parts each.
Semi-final the MSR to be played will be drawn on the line.
Final, the MSR to be played will be players second MSR not played in the semi-final.
Hornpipe and Jig
The format of the Hornpipe and Jig Final will be two four parted hornpipes and two four parted jigs. The player should demonstrate knowledge of both the Dot/Cut and Open rhythm idioms within their performance of the hornpipes. Hornpipes to be played in set order of Dot and Cut first.
Any musical transitions between tunes /styles or time signatures to be a maximum of 4 bars.

Closing Date for completed entries – 22nd September 2023, no late entries will be accepted.
