Media Center Image

The 2019 championship season started with the British Pipe Band Championships in Paisley.

118 pipe bands and 30 drum majors from Belgium, Denmark, USA, Eire, England, Northern Ireland and Scotland competed in front of large crowds despite the cold and damp conditions for the first championships title of the new season.

In the premier Grade 1 event St Laurence from Eire were crowned the 2019 British Champions and made it a double celebration also lifting the best drum corps. Scottish Power finished in the runners up spot whilst Inveraray and District, Peoples Ford - Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia, Field Marshal Montgomery and Police Scotland Fife completed the prize list.

Thanks to RSPBA Photographer Peter Hazzard we will have another gallery of pictures over the coming days.

The Adult Drum Major title was won by Liam Renton from Inveraray and District.

Kathy Hunter from Manorcunningham (Eire) won the Juvenile grade whilst Louis Anderson from New Ross and District (Eire) won the Junior grade.
