The RSPBA Summer School Team are delighted to announce that Cameron Lawson will join Allan Craig as part of this year’s Summer School Drumming instruction team.
Cameron, originally from Australia is currently a member of the Inveraray & District Pipe Band and a recent graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
He is a sought after performer on both the Pipe Band Snare Drum and Bodhran and has performed at events such as Celtic Connections, Piping Live!, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Zampogne Dal Monde in Sicily. Outside of performing, Cameron is a keen educator and is currently a Pipe Band Drumming instructor for the Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band and Preston Lodge High School Pipe Bands. He has recently finished his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he studied Traditional Music for four years, culminating in his final recital, which explored the role of the Snare Drum in Traditional Music.
On making this announcement John Nevans, the Principal of the Summer School, told us,
“It’s fantastic that we have someone with Cam’s drive and enthusiasm on board for this year’s school. Combined with Allan’s experience, knowledge and ability, we have a brilliant percussion team to guide our drumming students through this year’s syllabus. Combined with Pipe Majors Keith Senior and Keith J Bowes, the amount of talent we have on the team is unbelievable. This is going to be an incredible week.”
