Glasgow, Scotland — 02.05.2026 — The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) today announced a strategic “reset” of its Pipe Band College, marking the beginning of a comprehensive restructuring process designed to strengthen and future-proof the College for generations to come.
This proactive initiative reflects the Association’s commitment to excellence in education, innovation in teaching, and long-term sustainability within the global pipe band community. The reset will allow for a full assessment of the College’s structure, curriculum, and delivery methods, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of students, instructors, and member bands worldwide.
The restructuring will focus on modernising educational frameworks, enhancing accessibility, and aligning programs with contemporary standards in music education. It will also provide an opportunity to engage with stakeholders across the pipe band community to help shape a refreshed vision for the College.
“The Pipe Band College has long been at the heart of our mission to promote and develop pipe band music,” said Robert Niven, Chair of the RSPBA. “This reset is a positive and necessary step to ensure that the College remains relevant, resilient, and capable of delivering high-quality education well into the future.”
During this transition period, the RSPBA will communicate regularly with members and students, providing updates on progress and outlining opportunities for input and collaboration. The Association is committed to ensuring continuity where possible while laying the groundwork for a revitalised and sustainable College model.
Further details regarding timelines, program updates, and stakeholder engagement opportunities will be shared in due course.
