The RSPBA was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Honorary Life Member Wilson Young on 24th August 2026.

Wilson was a drummer with the Red Hackle Pipe Band in the 1960s and 1970s. He also became World Solo Drumming Champion in 1967. In 1975 he became a drumming adjudicator, and was also one of the first ensemble adjudicators with a drumming background. He served as Vice Chair of the Adjudicators Panel and as a member of the Music Board where he was carried out a number of roles. Wilson retired after almost 40 years as an Adjudicator. Following his retirement he was made an Honorary Life Member.
